I created CD BOOST because I understand the struggle independent artists face in the entertainment industry, including, marketing, promoting, and distribution, i.e. all the things needed to create major label interest.

Like most artists, my story began with humble beginnings as a young kid in a small Texas town that had only a single stop sign. I got the musical bug growing up in a musical family. My grandfather played the guitar with BB KING and my grandmother played the piano in church. As kids do, I started a band in high school and to everyone surprise it was a rock band which played Led Zeppelin. The dream of being the next Jimmy Hendrix ran into a major stumbling block when attempting to motivate people, who wanted to be stars, to practice on a regular basis.

With a fierce determination, I learned to play every instrument in the band. Changing from Rock to R&B, I decided to record a single. The single lead to deal offers with MCA, Capitol, and Virgin Records. Being a minor, and my parents not wanting me to become involved with anything bad and not understanding the industry, I wasn’t allowed to sign any of the contracts until I graduated high school.

However, it is well known in the music industry, one has to strike while the iron is hot.

After leaving high school and not deterred by the fact that the industry changed directions, like it does on a daily basis, I started playing with other small groups in hopes to land another contract with a major label. Every one seemed to promise the “all elusive pot of gold,” which was great. But the only thing missing every time was the gold. I was told every story and made every empty promise in the book, including, but not limited to, work that I did for other artists that I never got paid for.

Subsequently, I went on to become a published producer worked and played with artists with the likes of Cash Money, Juvenile, Master P, Silkk The Shocker, Tony, Tony, Tone, Lil Keke, Elliot English, Discovery Channel, Rodney Jerkins, KC and Jo Jo and a slew of others.

I discovered the best way to get paid royalties is for the royalties to be your own.

Eventually, I recorded and distributed an independent CD on my own without a major label’s assistance. This is when the invaluable lessons were learned from an independent standpoint—on how and who to market, independent distribution, pricing, booking, printing, radio, internet, and more. In addition to how draining it is to go through numerous companies to get the appropriate works just for the artists.

CD Boost is created to be a one stop shop for artists to advance their careers to any level they dream of. This site caters to the CEO, who plays music as a hobby for family and friends or the serious musician, who dreams of fame and fortune.

I believe music cures all.
